The Carriages of Colorado family has a many different critters to make your day special. We have 6 Belgian Draft horses and 5 ponies, ranging in sizes and ages. They all wanted to say hi!
THE BIG BOYS – Blaze and Tank
Blaze and Tank are a team but both can work independently as well. Blaze is on the right side of the carriage, while Tank drives on the left. They’ve been a team since 2018. They both came from Syracuse, New York. Blaze and Tank are not big fans of apples or carrots. If you try and give Tank one he tends to chew it up and then spit it out at you.
These two gentle giants will work all day long and continue to look for more, willing to get up close and personal with anything at least once. They have been up close and personal with a mariachi band at full roar and stood quite well.
Blaze is our oldest at 14 years old. He weighs in at 2,250 pounds and stands at almost 19 hands tall at his withers. He has an ornery personality. He is the “shortest” out of the four oldest drafts. He has decided since he is the oldest brother he needs to be the instigator in everything. Blaze likes to make you work for it to catch him. He gets immense enjoyment of running around when he sees you coming with his halter for a few, but once you catch him he’s like ok I guess I’ll work. He loves to work with Tank even if they have to get yelled at occasionally for goofing around.
Tank used to be our baby. He is 6 years old and weighs in at a staggering 2,400 pounds and stands at over 19 hands tall. He is a cuddle bug, all he wants to do is be with his people and will do whatever he can to be right next to you. Having that big boy following you around makes for an interesting experience. We never knew that we would have a 2,400 pound cuddle bug but we sure do. He is your typical younger brother, he thinks its fun to pick on the others then run away acting like he didn’t do anything. He’s all about working, he would work all the time if we let him. He doesn’t have a slow button he just wants to go, go, go.
THE BOYS (Cadillac Team) – Whiskey and Bravo
Whiskey and Bravo are our second Belgian Draft horse team, they can also work independently. Whiskey is our left hand horse and Bravo is on the right. Whiskey and Bravo love love love apples. These two gentle giants will calmly walk through basically anything that can be done outside. A calm gentle demeanor that is perfect for parades, weddings or quinceañera’s.
Whiskey is 11 years old, stands at 19 hands tall and weighs about 2,200 pounds. He doesn’t like to be left alone, he is attached to Bravos hip.
Bravo is 10 years old, stands at 19 hands tall and weighs about 2,200 pounds as well. He is is our laziest boy. He loves to make Whiskey do all the work, so you’ll hear him getting told to walk up. He enjoys working he just thinks its funny to see how long Whiskey will do the majority of it.
The Toddlers – Bronze and Copper
Last but not least of the drafts are the babies of the family, Bronze and Copper. These two guys are new to the family. They are both 2 years old, stand at a little over 17 hands tall and weigh about 1,500 pounds. They’ve got a lot of growing left in them but they will be the smallest of the 6. They love to rough house with each other and are constantly playing around. We are working on their manners and driving skills. They are doing amazing and we can’t wait to watch them grow and start attending your events.
The 3 Musketeers – Ringo, Dakota and Dusty
Ringo is a 15 year old pony that is the leader of the 3 Musketeers. He is our pony that we can use to do Unicorn birthday parties. He loves to pick on the rest of the 3 Musketeers and thinks its a blast to rub up against you when you’re in the pasture with him.
Dakota is another 15 year old pony, he is our quiet pony. He kind of just does his own thing. But with out fail you will see him herding Zoey around.
Dusty is the last of the 3 Musketeers, he is also 15 years old. He is so very mischievous, if there is the smallest gap in the fence he will find it and point it out to you by going into the other pastures. He loves loves loves his food and always wants to join the boys in their pasture.
The Girls – Maddy and Zoey
These two girls are our smallest ponies, they are both 24 years old.
Zoey she’s the littlest of all our horses, she is very much the quietest of them all. She kind of just does her own thing. Zoey does like to follow Maddy around.
Maddy doesn’t let her size get in her way, she gives as good as she gets. She will pick on the 3 Musketeers and then tries to act all innocent. She does protect Zoey, except at food time, then it is every girl for herself!
